Intense.

In terms of using GP5 to compose this piece (in most of the parts), I think this sounds spectacular, and would work very well in boss fights. If you could fix the chop parts and use better samples, I'm sure it's gonna be a 9-10 from me. ^^

F-Meister responds:

Thanks a lot! Do you have any suggestions on which programs are good for obtaining better samples etc? I'm thinking about installing Cubase but I dunno if my computer will be able to handle it....

My head is nodding.

This song shares a lot of familiarity from Azure Dreams, the game I've played. :) It's a chill-out style. I could listen to this while working, looping it over and over.

EvilKarsh responds:

yea,it is one of the popular songs in Chrono Cross

Harvest Moon....?

The instruments and the melody remind me of two games I've played. One is Harvest Moon and another is Azure Dreams. Anyway, it sounds nice and lively somehow. This would surely hook players to interest what you want for sure. ^^

EvilKarsh responds:

its from Chrono Cross, and yea,it has a hook to it.
and I have never played harvest moon, but I heard it was pretty good for a faming game.

Very good.

It has movement. This will surely be quite good for battle scene in games. :)

Smooth and relaxing.

I could imagine the story as the song plays! The piano line is well written. Strings playing at the back provide a solid background and sometimes adds color to a song too. Glockenspiel (or celesta?) also adds a nice touch on this piece.

I really enjoy this piece, really. :)

Kimken responds:

great :). I put my heart into this piece.. it's a glockenspiel.

Soothing.

It's a great listening, though the intensity isn't that extreme. This can be looped over and over for an RPG, I'm sure. :D

Shan83 responds:

thank you so much!! highly appreciated! :))
yes, its not very intense, I just tried to add a strong atmo. hope to do better next time! :)

The progression of the phrase....Minimalism.

In this piece, I could see a very lucid motif within the song. The clear sound of each intrument stands out that every one of them paints a picture, adding an excellent details for visualizing the image in listener's mind. Though I'd say it's a repetitive in terms of motif, but you've used the techniques such as allowing the instruments to take turns to play the melodies, and blend in some counter-melodies to create more strength and intensity while introducing the transitions of the breakdowns and new motifs in Edgen style.....Um, like this part starting from 1:39 could be a great example....Right, the use of high strings to make the song feel "uplifting" and grand. :D

Although very few people visit you in NG nowadays, but I'll constantly check out your work, Edgen because you've given me a great inspiration to be a better composer in classical fields. I kinda see what the real beauty of classical and ambient is like when you really want to bring out from it. It can be deeper than any other genres, I believe. :)

Soothingly powerful.

You've got a solid bassline, and the powerful kicks there. It basically has all the elements that dance song should have. It's progressive, though a little bit repetitive, but can actually move the listeners well.

Lovely piano lines.

Bahdshah responds:

Thanks mate! everyone loves the piano intro from the euphoria!

Powerful.

Full of energy and progressive. I admire the use of instruments, especially the percussion. (Where did you get them? 8D) This brings up a lot of professional feel of the song. I'd say this is my favorite so far, as I have listened the classical songs in the contest.

EvilHatX responds:

Hi, thanks a lot - very nice to hear! :-)

The percussion was made with Tonehammer Epic Toms. You can check www.tonehammer.com for either the Vol 1 and 2, or the #2 bundle which also includes a bamboo stick ensemble (never used that one though). They are fairly priced!

Good luck, and thanks again.

Incredibly soothing....

I really like how you bring in each instruments in the beginning. It's like you're building up the emotions of the listener, you know. The melodies and accompaniment are well written, and they gives you a lot of things to visualize in mind.

I understand that your style resembles heavy metal voice, as for a soothing song like this, I'd rather keep the percussion low like the 3:13 part almost throughout. It might have turned out to be an excellent ambient song even. Heavy drums are just too hard to blend in, imho. :)

Anyway, I still favor the way you write your melodies that people could enjoy listening over and over again, plus it's very practical for film and gaming use.
